What we can and can’t repair

Most surface damage on a bath is repairable in place. We routinely restore chips at the rim or base, hairline and stress cracks, scratches and scuffs, small holes, cigarette burns, rust spots on enamel and cast iron, and dull or yellowed surfaces that have lost their gloss. Where a bath has been drilled for old fittings or damaged around the waste, we fill and refinish the area so it blends with the surrounding surface. A repair is not the right call when a bath is structurally split from end to end, has widespread delamination of an earlier resurfacing coat, or is so distorted that it no longer holds water. In those cases we will tell you honestly that replacement is the better option rather than sell you a repair that will not last.

Common bath problems we fix across London

• Hairline cracks on the base or sides of an acrylic bath, usually caused by flex underfoot or an unsupported base. These are filled, reinforced and refinished so the surface is solid again.
• Chips around the taps, overflow and rim, where a dropped bottle or a tap spanner has taken off the surface — common on enamel, steel and cast-iron baths as well as acrylic.
• Scratches and dull, worn patches from abrasive cleaners, which we cut back and re-polish or refinish.
• Peeling or flaking after a previous resurfacing job — a frequent one in rented flats and HMOs. We strip the failed coating back and re-finish it properly.
• Stains, discolouration and limescale damage that will not shift with ordinary cleaning.

How long a bath repair takes

A single chip or crack repair is usually completed in one visit within a couple of hours, and a full resurface of an entire bath typically takes around half a day on site. Fresh coatings need curing time before the bath is used, so we give you a clear “ready to use” time on the day, commonly the same evening or the following morning depending on the finish and temperature. Because the work is done in place, there is no rip-out, no plumbing disruption and no waiting for a replacement bath to be ordered and fitted.

Can you repair a cracked acrylic bath rather than replace it?

Yes. Cracks and chips in acrylic baths are one of the most common jobs we do. We clean and prepare the area, fill and bond the damage, then refinish and colour-match so the repair blends into the surrounding surface. Send us a photo and we will confirm whether it is repairable.

Will the repaired area match the rest of the bath?

In almost all cases, yes. We colour-match to your specific bath and finish to the same gloss level, so a well-executed repair is very hard to spot. On older, heavily discoloured baths a full resurface gives the most uniform result.

How soon can I use the bath after a repair?

Most repairs are ready to use the same day once the finish has cured, and we will give you an exact time on site. Full resurfacing usually needs to be left a little longer, often overnight, for the best durability.

Can you repair a chip in an enamel, steel or cast-iron bath?

Yes. Chips on enamelled steel and cast-iron baths are filled, colour-matched and sealed so the repaired spot blends into the surrounding surface.
