What we can and can’t fix on a worktop
Most day-to-day worktop damage is repairable on site without replacing the surface. On laminate we fill and re-colour chips along the front edge, seams that have lifted, and small burns from hot pans. On quartz, granite and other stone we repair chips (especially around sink cut-outs and hob edges), fill hairline cracks, and re-polish dull or etched patches — see our dedicated stone repair in London page for the finer detail. Solid surface (Corian and similar) can usually be sanded, filled and re-blended so the repair disappears. Wooden worktops are sanded back, re-coloured and re-oiled.
The main cases where repair isn’t the right call are a stone worktop cracked clean through across its full width (usually a structural failure that needs replacing), and severe water damage that has swollen a laminate or wooden top from underneath. How long does a worktop repair take?
The large majority of worktop repairs are completed in a single visit, typically within a couple of hours, and the surface is ready to use the same day. Larger jobs, colour-matched stone re-polishing across a big area, or multiple worktops in one property may take longer, but we’ll confirm the expected timing when you send photos. Because we come to you and work in place, there’s no need to remove or send away the worktop.

Can you repair a chip in a quartz or granite worktop?
Yes. Chips in quartz and granite — most commonly around the sink cut-out, hob edge or front edge — are one of the most frequent worktop repairs we carry out in London. We fill the chip with a colour-matched hard-setting resin and polish it flush so it blends into the surrounding stone. It’s carried out in place, so there’s no need to replace the whole worktop. Will the repair be noticeable afterwards?
Our aim is a repair that’s hard to spot in normal use. We colour-match to the surrounding worktop and re-finish so the texture and sheen match too. On patterned stone and laminate the join is very well disguised; on plain, high-gloss colours a repair can be marginally more visible up close, and we’ll always be upfront about the likely result before you commit.
Is repairing a worktop worth it compared with replacing it?
In most cases, yes. Replacing a fitted worktop means templating, removal, refitting and often disruption to sinks, hobs and splashbacks. An on-site repair restores the look of the surface without any of that upheaval, and keeps a perfectly sound worktop out of landfill. The exceptions are the structural failures noted above.
