Frequently Asked Questions

What is manifestation and when is it needed?

It is a visible mark on large areas of glass so people can see the glazing is there. Approved Document K sets out the band heights for critical locations in buildings people use.

Will frosted film give full privacy?

Etch film stops you seeing detail through the glass both ways, but it still passes light. For complete blockout you need a blackout or printed film.

Can film be applied to the outside of the glass?

Yes, with exterior-grade film. Inside is preferred where possible because it is protected from weather and cleaning.

Does film affect the glass or its warranty?

Some films are not suitable for certain sealed or toughened units. Tell us the glass type and we will check before specifying anything.

How soon can it be used after fitting?

The glazing is usable straight away. Wet-applied film can look slightly hazy for a few days while the moisture clears, which is normal.

Glazing that needs privacy or marking out?

Send photos and glass sizes and we will set out the options and a price.
