Luxury vinyl tile (LVT) and luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring has become one of the most popular floor choices in UK homes and commercial spaces. Brands including Amtico, Karndean, Polyflor, Moduleo and Harvey Maria produce high-quality LVT that replicates the look of stone, wood and concrete with excellent durability. Despite its hardness, LVT can still suffer scratches, chips, gouges and lifting — and professional repair is often the most practical solution.
Common LVT Floor Problems
- Deep scratches — from furniture legs, dropped tools or stiletto heels cutting through the wear layer
- Chips and gouges — from heavy dropped objects, particularly in kitchens and bathrooms
- Lifting edges and corners — adhesive failure causing planks or tiles to lift at the edges
- Bubbling — moisture getting under loose-lay LVT and causing sections to lift
- Burn marks — from cigarettes or hot items placed directly on the floor
- Fading and discolouration — from prolonged UV exposure through windows
LVT Scratch and Chip Repair
Scratches that penetrate through the wear layer and into the LVT body can be repaired using colour-matched flexible compounds. The repair process involves filling the scratch or chip, blending the colour, and applying a surface sealer to match the sheen level of the surrounding floor. This approach works well for localised damage and produces results that are difficult to spot under normal lighting.
LVT Plank Replacement
For heavily damaged areas where the LVT is split, severely gouged or has multiple problems, individual plank or tile replacement is often the most practical solution. This requires access to the same LVT product (or a close match) and is best done before the product is discontinued. We can advise on whether repair or replacement is more appropriate for your specific damage.
Amtico and Karndean Repair
Amtico and Karndean are the premium LVT brands most frequently encountered in high-specification installations. Both brands have extensive product ranges and the specific pattern, colour and sheen level of each product must be matched carefully. Our technicians have experience repairing both brands across their standard and bespoke product ranges.
