Chips and Edge Damage
Chips in porcelain and natural stone outdoor tiles can be filled with colour-matched exterior-grade filler. For frost-resistance, it’s important that outdoor tile fillers are specified for external use and provide appropriate flexibility for thermal movement. On plain or lightly textured tiles, chip repairs can be almost invisible.
Cracked Tiles
A cracked tile on a balcony or terrace needs prompt attention — water penetrating a crack can undermine the adhesive and lead to further failures. Hairline cracks can be filled and sealed to prevent water ingress. Where a tile is cracked through and exhibiting movement, replacement of that individual tile is often more appropriate — though matching an original tile can be challenging if the range is discontinued.
Grout Deterioration
Failed grout on outdoor tiles is both a cosmetic problem and a structural one — missing or crumbling grout allows water to penetrate beneath the tiles and eventually cause further failures. Grout can be raked out and replaced with appropriate exterior-grade grout in a colour that matches or complements the originals.
