If you’re considering professional surface repair for the first time, you probably have questions about what’s possible, how it works, and whether it’s worth it. Here are answers to the questions we hear most often at Shazam Repairs.
How invisible will the repair be?
This depends on the material and type of damage. On plain white acrylic baths, single chip repairs are typically very difficult to see from normal viewing distance. On patterned or coloured surfaces, a repair will be less detectable than the original damage but may be visible on very close inspection. We always give an honest assessment of expected results before booking.
How long does a repair last?
A professionally executed chip repair using proper materials should last many years — often as long as the surrounding surface. We use professional-grade materials rather than consumer DIY products. On surfaces that see very heavy use (like a busy restaurant kitchen worktop), some repairs may show wear sooner.
Can you repair any surface?
We repair a very wide range of surfaces — acrylic, fibreglass, vitreous enamel, cast iron, ceramic, porcelain, granite, quartz, marble, limestone, travertine, laminate, solid wood, Corian, LVT, hardwood floors, composite and uPVC. If you’re not sure whether your surface can be repaired, send us photos and we’ll advise.
Do I need to be home during the repair?
For most repairs, yes — we need access to the property. However, for commercial or rental properties, access can often be arranged through a key holder or agent.
How do I get a quote?
Send us clear photographs of the damage — ideally in good natural light and including a coin or ruler for scale. We’ll respond with a fixed-price quote within 24 hours. There’s no call-out charge for quoting.
How long will the repair take?
Most single chip repairs take 1–3 hours. More complex jobs — multiple repairs, full resurfacing, or larger damage — may take a full day. We’ll give you a time estimate when we quote.
Is there a guarantee?
Yes. We guarantee our workmanship. If a repair fails within the guarantee period due to our work, we’ll return to rectify it at no charge.
Can you match the colour exactly?
We mix colours on-site to match your specific surface. On white surfaces this is straightforward. On coloured or patterned surfaces, achieving an exact match requires skill and experience — we’re honest about expected results before we begin.
