One of the most frequent concerns we hear from customers is about disruption — “will I be able to use my kitchen while the repair is happening?” and “how long will I be without a usable worktop?” This guide gives you the honest picture of what worktop repair involves and how it fits around a working household.
How Long Does Worktop Repair Take?
Most standard worktop chip repairs — a single chip, or two to three chips in a session — take 1–2 hours on-site. This includes preparation, application of the repair compound in layers, curing and polishing. For larger areas or multiple repairs across a kitchen, the visit may extend to 3–4 hours.
Does the Whole Kitchen Need to Be Cleared?
No — only the immediate work area around the chip needs to be cleared. We’ll ask for the worktop area near the damage to be free of appliances, food and items so we can work comfortably. The rest of the kitchen can remain as normal.
Is the Kitchen Usable During the Repair?
We ask customers not to use the immediate worktop area being worked on during the repair. The rest of the kitchen is usually fully accessible, so you can use appliances, make tea or coffee, and go about normal activities — just keeping clear of the work area.
When Can I Use the Repaired Area?
In most cases, the repaired area can be used the same day — typically within 1–2 hours of the technician finishing. We use fast-curing repair systems for this reason. We’ll advise on any specific care instructions at the end of the visit.
