Dekton is Cosentino’s ultra-compact sintered stone surface — a category of worktop material made from a combination of glass, porcelain and quartz pressed at extreme temperatures and pressures. The result is an extremely hard, heat-resistant and scratch-resistant surface that is nonetheless vulnerable to chipping on edges and corners when subjected to sharp impacts. Professional Dekton repair is possible and achieves good results.
Why Dekton Is Particularly Vulnerable to Chips
Dekton’s exceptional hardness is also its Achilles heel. Very hard materials tend to be less ductile — they don’t absorb impact energy by deforming, they resist it until they suddenly fracture. This means a sharp impact that might just scratch a softer quartz surface can chip or crack Dekton. Edge chips on Dekton can be quite angular and precise in shape, which actually makes them well-suited to repair.
Dekton Colour and Finish Matching
Dekton comes in a wide range of colours and finishes — polished, matte, natural and textured. The sintered manufacturing process creates a material that is consistent through its depth, which helps with repair as there is no different-coloured substrate to conceal. Our technicians blend pigments to match Dekton’s specific colour, then finish the repair to match — polished to a high gloss, or matte as appropriate.
Neolith and Other Sintered Stone Repair
We also repair Neolith (TheSize) and Lapitec sintered stone worktops, which are Dekton’s main competitors. The repair approach is similar across all sintered stone products.
