Silestone is one of the most widely installed quartz worktop brands in UK kitchens — an engineered stone product from the Spanish manufacturer Cosentino. Available in hundreds of colours and finishes and backed by a 25-year warranty, Silestone is a premium worktop choice. But despite its durability, Silestone can chip, and when it does, professional repair is the fastest and most cost-effective remedy.
Common Silestone Damage
Edge and Corner Chips
Edge chips are the most common form of damage on Silestone worktops. Despite the material’s hardness, concentrated impact on an unsupported edge — a heavy pan, a dropped item or an accident during installation — can produce a clean conchoidal chip. The chip exposes the internal structure of the quartz composite, which is lighter in colour than the surface.
Heat Damage
Cosentino advises against placing hot pots directly on Silestone. The resin binder in the composite can yellow or crack from sustained heat exposure. Light surface discolouration from heat can sometimes be treated; deeper heat cracks are more challenging.
Scratches
Silestone’s surface is scratch-resistant but not scratch-proof. Deep scratches on honed or suede-finish Silestone are more visible than on polished surfaces. Minor surface scratching can sometimes be polished out by a stone care specialist.
Silestone Colour Ranges and Repair Considerations
Silestone’s extensive colour range — from Blanco Zeus and White Storm to Iconic Black and Eternal Marquina — presents varying levels of repair complexity. Plain, uniform colours repair most successfully. The Ethereal collection, which features subtle background tones with delicate veining, and the Eternal collection, which mimics marble with bold veining, are more demanding to match.
If you know the specific Silestone colour name, sharing this with us when requesting a quote allows the technician to prepare the closest possible starting match before attending site.
Silestone Warranty and Repair
Silestone’s 25-year warranty covers manufacturing defects but not accidental damage such as chips or impact damage. If your Silestone has chipped, the repair is not covered by warranty and you’ll need to arrange professional repair independently.
