Schock and Reginox are two of the most widely installed composite granite sink brands in UK kitchens — Schock’s Cristadur material and Reginox’s Cristalite are found in thousands of homes. Like all composite granite sinks, they’re durable but not damage-proof. Chips, cracks and surface marks do occur, and professional repair can restore them at a fraction of the cost of a new sink installation.
Schock Cristadur Sinks
Schock Cristadur is composed of approximately 80% quartz granite and 20% acrylic resin binder. Available in a wide range of colours including popular tones like Onyx, Carbon, Croma, Nero and Magma. Cristadur has excellent resistance to heat, staining and impact in everyday kitchen use — but concentrated impact on the rim or bowl corners can produce chips.
Reginox Cristalite Sinks
Reginox Cristalite is similarly composed of natural granite particles in an acrylic matrix. Common colours include Midnight Black, Polar White, Silvery Grey and Sandy Beige. Cristalite sinks are widely fitted in new-build and refurbished kitchens across the UK and are one of the most commonly repaired composite sink types.
Types of Damage on Composite Granite Sinks
- Rim chips: The most common damage point — heavy items dropped into the sink at the wrong angle chip the rim. The light-coloured substrate is visible through the coloured surface layer.
- Surface scratches: Fine scratches from metal pans, wire wool or abrasive cleaners. More visible on darker colours.
- Staining and bleach damage: Bleach used incorrectly can lighten the surface of darker composite sinks, producing patches of discolouration that don’t clean off.
- Hairline cracks: Less common but can occur from thermal shock or settling.
Colour Matching for Schock and Reginox Repair
Successful repair of composite granite sinks requires precise colour matching. Knowing the brand, model and colour name (or code) in advance helps the specialist prepare matching compounds. If you don’t know the exact colour, photographs in good natural light are essential for the technician to work from on site.
